Dear all,
please do not subscribe yourselves to Maxis Broadband because they are
cheating the money out of the poor people of Malaysia.
I went to PC Fair today just to see the latest gadgets in IT. Suddenly
as I pass by the groups of green-shirt sales people huddled so close
together like they’ve got something to hide, one of the green shirt
lady asked me to subscribe to Maxis broadband because I could get
3.6mps speed that is so much faster than the usual Streamyx 1.0mps at
roughly the same price.(I will pay RM108 per month for Maxis instead
of Rm88 per month for Streamyx, by mathematical calculation Maxis
would seem more economical for my cents worth) There are many things
went through my mind other than the economy of speed i.e the mobility,
housemate will have better sharing speed and I could finally cancel my
unused land line of RM25/month
Imagine my horror when I got back home and tested my Maxis and found
that its speed is way slower than Streamyx!!! I tried to open a
youtube file with Maxis then Streamyx at around the same time and
found out that Streamyx is way much faster than Maxis!!!
Not only that, when I got myself back to Streamyx and google ‘Maxis
Broadband Speed’ I was flabbergasted by the rows of forums consists of
very very pissed off Maxis Broadband victims. A lot of them are like
me, new user just bought less than a week,and already felt cheated by
the doings of Maxis!!!

contract that I need to commit to 18 months of the subscription or I
will be penalized with exactly the same amount of cost plus
cancellation fees!!! Which means to say that I have no choice but to
use for 18 months of slow-speed connection.

C’mon friends. Be a proactive Malaysian. Enough with our Tidak Apa
attitude. Let there be justice where justice is due. The people need
to be informed.

Iam satisfied with my maxis. i tested on speedtest.net and the speed is about 2200kbps. 2 things i hate of my maxis
1. Messy wires
2. Cannot download torrent(limewire)

I agreed. I hate maxis broadband as the service WAS and IS poor. The line always disconnects as the provider wish (unplugged) after the connection was on previously. The service was really bad. I’m really disappointed with maxis broadband and going to change to streamyx later on.

I used maxis for sometime and most of the time the connection is quite good. tried speedtest.net i get average more than 500kbps. i did have slow connection but tweak the setting a bit and its ok. oh.. i subscribe the 384kbps package.
okie. My two cent on his (wish its as cheap as that).. If you guys says that you guys get fast connection.. I am amazed.. because.. Its 2 weeks since I installed a 3.6 Power Package and its slower than a dial up.. I am uttely disapointed with Maxis and thier idiotic customer service. I jus wish our goverment makes it mandotory that all service provider uses a toll free number. The last time i called them (Maxis) I got burned abou 13 ringgit of DIGI Credit.
I am a regular and heavy user of internet and now I am stuck with a ISP Boadband thats slower than a dial UP.. I used to use streamyx and it worked fine.. BTW I live in PJ SS24 where i supposed to be well covered by maxis.. I hate Maxis to the core and I have no rights now about this. I hate i when our govement protects coporate sluts like Maxis than us the people.

I installed maxis power package a month ago and it work find to me. and not only that, i share the connection with students next door. at any one time there are about 5 to 6 pcs connected and i can still get a connection of 2.3mbps. my bitorrent also work find as i download about 46 movies i.e. estimated of 800 mb each movies with a speed of 80 – 105 kbps. I do not believe about the capping as i downloaded about 36800 mb of data or 36.8 gb with no issue. I move from celcom 3g due to connectivity but with maxis, the signal is not less than excellent.
now i`m using maxis broadband and my places was covered by maxis HSDPA. Subscribing the 3.6mbps pack and get average 2.2-2.8 mbps DL and of course from 100 kbps-250kbps UL. tested using http://www.speedtest.net many time. no problem at all. the first things u have to check b4 subscribing to maxis broadband- is u`r place covered by the maxis HSDPA connection? check with them or surf to maxis broadband websites and do some research. if not then most probably that u`ill get lower speed and even no connection at all. so check dulu lah…. that`s why maxis give u 7 days trial. kalau tak puas hati, pulangkan semula dan wang deposit akan dikembalikan dalam tempoh 3 bulan. win-win situation what? so…..
Yes indeed maxis broadband sucks to the max. 3.6mbps? I get before seriously. It was during the grace period of 7 days. It was heaven that I can at last browse at a super speed. That very after that my maxis broadband achieve 7*24 hours from activation, the line drop since then and never ever to achieve even 2.1mbps. When I questioned then why is it so, they told me the amount of user has increased. I showed them screenshots. Same time I downloaded stuff just different day. And I even knock the door of every houses nearby me. The results was amazing. No one use maxis broadband at a radius of 200m from my house and they told me the amount of user has increased. Such a fake lie.
If maxis broadband to read this message, please do come and pin us(all the complaining users) down(if you can) but you can’t cause your line just sucks to the max. Amount of satisfied customer vs amount of satisfied customer? Anyone good in maths. I just can’t compare the ratio.
Indeed Nicholas..I’m living in Bandar Perda in Penang. I face the same case just like you. We know that this maxis give us 7 days trial. you can mark my word!!during the trial,I was like really grateful that i using it..for example,during that trial i have downloaded like 5 movies from bit torrent and it is extremely fast!!
but………..soon after the trial,the speed was really slow like hell!it really slow even i can’t watch you tube smoothly.WTF is that??I just paid my first bill that cost me RM138..Im really regret im using this maxis brodband..
Now i have to pay the same amount like 2 years and will never satisfied with the service???damn man..
Sobs .. I’ve been using Maxis BroadBand for about 1 Year … Before this my connection is ok .. But right now i dont know what is the problem with my Maxis BB connection .. When I Downloaded File Size 900k/b taking almost 15 ~ 20 minutes … While i can downloaded file size 900k/b in 5 minutes before … And now i cant even watching videos on Youtube smoothly .. same problem like Nadzmin ..
When I try to download video from youtube, my connection is only 5KB/s ~ 12 Kb/s … WTF … is it because of my Laptop or my BroadBand Sucks ?!! Or is it because im stay on Lv 13 Apartment so i get the slow connection? But it was ok before … Hate It !! Sobs ..

Maxis is extremely slow in certain areas.
I’m currently using maxis,and I’m really disappointed.
But if you compare maxis to Streamyx,Maxis wins hands down.
Maxis is simple,light and portable,and does not lag that much.
But it is slow.
Streamyx gets disconnected ALL the time.It is slightly faster,but has sooo many issues.
First your router will be spoilt,then this then that and at the end you end up buying a new modem.
Yo have NO idea how many times I called customer service. =(
Maxis,on the other hand is simple.It does not require a power source,for it uses USB power,it can be used ANYWHERE(well,almost)in Malaysia,even in cars,and if there is ANYTHING wrong with the connection,you only need to deal with the modem.
So of course Streamyx is your LAST choice,but Maxis DOES have competition with w1max.
Do you people know about w1max?It’s one of the fastest internet providers in malaysia.It’s DOWNLOAD speed averages around like 90 kb/s,well for most people at least.I’m not sure about it’s connection speed though.
But it is NOT portable like the maxis broadband.So it’s really up to you.Fast internet at home or slow internet anywhere =D.
i agree.. it was the 7 days trial time tat i was grateful to have it.. after a few months it was okay… but on about april of 2009 it was as slow as a fcking pig zzzzz………… i never had a smooth dota game.. my msn always dc.. haiz regretted really ==… but it is really true tat the users has increased and it is most probably then cause lol.

but at least, my doubt about maxis broadband is true…and now i know that i’m not the only person who hate maxis…to me the worst part about maxis is the customer service centre…their staff there are more horror than ghosts…cause anytime when you try to tell them about your problem, you will end up with more problems create to you by them….huhu..
even the mobile 3g fixed line also got problems especially when they started launch 3g for internet users…but when I made complained about the service , their staff just said they never received any complain from other user facing the same mobile connection problem…which i think it was a lies..
MAXIS SUCK.. that’s all I can say.
As a customer, I’m absolutely very frustrated with the service rendered.. I feel like been cheated by stupid MAXIS. The internet connection was very slow, almost like old days, dial up internet. Furthermore, it’s hard to connect and always get disconnected. Your PC will become slow too. The maxis centre also not so helpful, always giving the same solution, just like the answer already been scripted. Huh.. ;(
Those who are about to register MAXIS stupid Broadband, please withdraw your intention immediately. The service is not worth of your money and time as well.
I have no choice but to stop making monthly payment, to show my disappointment of the service.

I was enticed to the postpaid and broadband package last Nov 08. Yes, I thought there was no limitation to amount of Gigabytes that i could have. Maxis dictating how much I could access??? I ain’t a school kid anymore. THIS IS CHEATING!
Yes, I am terminating my Broadband this Nov 09. Can’t wait to do that! Bye Maxshit!
